This one is from eddieross.com I love all the colors and it looks like it would be pretty simple and inexpensive to make...
This one is from livingwithlindsay.com. I love how unique this one is and once again very inexpensive to make, she used a wreath form and a book from the dollar store and that was it! You could probaby even use sheet music too...Check out her instructions here.

I'm extremely late to this post but I just found your blog yesterday and I've been going over it for the past night and day. :) I love love LOVE it! I can't wait to create some thrifty things of my own! You've inspired me to get out and go to my local Goodwill and Salvation Army and not to immediately judge a book by its cover. So much can be done with paint!
Anyhoo, the "spikey balls" as you call them are from gumball trees. That's what we called them growing up anyway. :) I did a little searching and figured out they're really called American Sweetgum or Redgum trees. I grew up with my family making all kinds of things out of the gumballs for Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc! That wreath that uses them is super cute...along with all the other wreaths of course! ;)
