Friday

"Sew" Perfect!

I have finally finished one of my many projects going on right now. First, I have some great news! I sold my first two pieces of furniture! :) Which means I can start working on some more pieces. I'm so excited to see where this will lead. Anyways, I stumbled upon this little table at the Goodwill for $15. It doesn't look too bad in the picture but the top definitely had some damage so I fixed it up with a little paint and then gave it some distressing to add a little character.

Before...

and after! This space seemed so empty before but now this table fills it in nicely.

and I just love this picture, I'm not sure why, maybe because I have a love for all things beachy? I found it at the Goodwill for $2.98 and it's signed and everything. It looks almost like a watercolor. I'm not sure, but I like it :)

SURPRISE!  It also houses a wonderful old sewing machine.  I was so excited when I saw this part.  I had the man in the store plug it in to make sure it worked and much to my surprise it worked like a charm!

I would have easily paid $15 for just the side table but I was so amazed to get such a good deal for both!  It made my day!

Happy Friday!  I hope to finish up most of my projects this weekend so I can share them!

I stumbled across your blog, and glad I did. I have that exact same sewing machine, except with a couple of extra options. It was bought in 1969 by my father for me when I first took home-ec and learned how to sew. He paid about $80 for it. I have used it rather consistently since then. For the past 30 years I've been saying that as soon as this breaks down, I'm buying a new one. lol. The old thing won't break down! If you need instructions on how to oil and lubricate it, just email me at rsdrl925@yahoo.com. Rosie

Thank you all! Rosie, I would love some more info on how to oil it! I will be emailing you soon. I have a newer machine but I would love to be able to use this one as well!

How did you advertise that you had the furniture for sale? Craigslist? Word of mouth?

For now, I am using Craigslist and I have some business cards that I try to pass out as much as possible to get it spread through word of mouth.

Hello! I am new to your blog. It was featured on Three Men and a Lady (http://windhula.blogspot.com/) and now I am spending the day snooping through your stuff lol! I just bought a "table" from the Goodwill this weekend for $6.99 and found it to be a lovely sewing machine similar to yours. It works and everything! for $6.99! I can't wait to paint it and find a place for it in my home! Great Blog! Thanks for all the inspiration!
