I've had this faux window box sitting in my garage for forever. It was $5 at Goodwill and I thought I could use it for something, you never know. The paint job was just awful. So, I decided to separate the two pieces and turn the window into a mirror. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the window box yet, but I feel another DIY project coming on.
I gave it a quick coat of gray paint, after scrubbing the whole thing down. Then I sprayed the back of the window with looking glass mirror paint. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% off coupon. It gave it a really nice faux mercury glass look.
Unfortunately, I have no room for it in my own home so I'm hoping it will make someone else very happy when they see it all adorned for Christmas in our booth!
it looks so good. i love your vignette!
ReplyDeletei have a pretty big, really old window like this that i was debating on selling actually. UNTIL i saw the mirror you did above! so you spray the BACK only of the glass and then the part of the window/mirror facing out from the wall is mirror like? i'm paranoid i'll mess it up but man does that look so pretty, especially this time of year.
ReplyDeletei read your table post. i've been there with a disaster and i'm so sorry. :( BUT, i think the first table with pretty legs looks enough like the super exspensive one you want, and it happens to be my fave. ;)
wow! that is fabulous! i've never heard of this looking glass spray paint! i am so going to get some-as soon as i can find it. love ur blog and all of ur diy projects. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that spray paint on the Nate Berkus show the other day and now I know I have to buy some! Great project!
ReplyDeleteThe gal in the paint dept at Wallyworld thinks they're getting in this paint. I'm so excited! Otherwise when I want to use it, it's a 35 minute drive to the store.
ReplyDeleteLovely this project!
