This is the second makeover I've done on these chairs. They started out in bad shape so I recovered them and added some new buttons to the back. I loved the detail the buttons added, but soon noticed they posed a problem. Every time we had guests over they seemed to pop off as they would sit down. Over time, there were fewer and fewer buttons left. I knew I was going to have to take them apart and take the backing off to reattach the buttons, so I thought-while I'm at it why not recover them! :) I decided to forego the buttons this time since they would probably end up popping off again.

It really wasn't the exact color I was going for anyway and when I found this fabric for $1.99 at Garden ridge I was sold. They were having a Thanksgiving day sale, all fabric was $1.99! This is high quality upholstery fabric and the price was for 2 to 2.5 yards. It's our tradition for the girls to go to Garden Ridge after we all have enjoyed a nice meal on Thanksgiving day. The boys clean up while we go shopping, sounds like a good tradition right? After all, we do the all cooking :) Anyways, I found two different fabrics for $1.99. So, I spent a total of $4 on this project and I still have leftover fabric.
and the final (for now ;) after....
I like the combination of the two different fabrics, and I think the pattern of the fabric adds enough interest so I don't need the buttons...not bad for a $4 makeover.

What beautiful fabric you found! I love the combination of the patterned top half and solid seat cushion. Great job!

I LOVE that Ikat fabric! It adds some color variation & breaks up all the brown & white in your dining room perfectly. That's such a pretty shade of aqua too-it could be a great jumping off point for an accent color.
I love the combination of fabrics. I always get so nervous picking them out. Great choices.
Thats a great chair! Maybe you have some suggestions for the chairs I am picking up today!

Great job on those chairs...I must remember Garden Ridge for fabrics!!! I once found some $100.00 a yard fabric for like $4.99 at Old Time Pottery! Thought I had hit the jackpot!
