A little green

I'm thinking about adding a fairly large indoor plant/tree somewhere in my house.  Maybe I've just got spring fever, but I love the look of fresh live greenery in a room.  It brings the outdoors in and adds a pop of color.  I'm really loving the look of dwarf citrus trees for my breakfast nook.  I was born and raised in Florida where oranges abound so I may just be going back to my roots.

I'm thinking one of these would look lovely in my breakfast nook...It would coordinate nicely with my framed botanical prints (there just so happens to be a citrus print included in the gallery I have on the wall)

Tobi Fairley even used citrus to decorate for Christmas

So, the hunt begins for a little citrus tree for the house.  If I can keep it alive I'll even get to enjoy the "fruits" of my labor ;)

  1. I've always wanted a lemon tree but I never thought I could maintain it. We should go for it! Citrus fruits for everyone!

  2. Hi! I'm a new follower of your blog (I L-O-V-E it!). Anyways, Martha Stewart had an article in her magazine last month about indoor citrus plants. She suggested a Meyer Lemon tree; I saw them at Home Depot for $29. I'm thinking about trying it out as well this spring. Good luck!

  3. A cumquat tree would be a good one! My mom had one when I was growing up and it produced alot of fruit. They are tart, though, so you have to like sour things

  5. We have a kumquat tree... Of course I live in California, so the sunny weather is bountiful, but it does pretty well with filtered light. and they taste YUMMY!!! you can eat the whole thing - peel and all.

  6. I have tried and tried to get one to grow... Here in MD I leave it outside in the summer and inside in the winter. Have you had any luck with getting one? I got mine at Lowe's for $20.
