A huge thank you to Apartment therapy for featuring my $10 desk makeover. I was so shocked to come across it being featured when scrolling through my reader. If you are interested check it out here. I was a little taken back by some of the comments, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad. Thank you guys for always keeping it positive around here :)
Happy Friday! I'm going to take advantage of this beautiful fall weather and spend some time outdoors!
It is a great project! Your office is coming along.
ReplyDeleteI was featured on AT and the comments are super harsh, they said Bert and Ernie would like my project (I really hope they did!! :), don't let it get to you.
I love this desk. It is both beautiful and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThe desk is awesome! Great job! The comments, however, are not....I'm sorry that they were so harsh. Your designs are amazing so please keep inspiring your "true readers"...We certainly appreciate you.

Congrats!!! Your desk is beautiful. I fell in love with it the day you posted it on your blog! Don't sweat the negative comments. Some people just don't "get it".
ReplyDeleteAT has a culture of really negative comments--they are pretty mean bunch. Don't take it personally. The desk looks great.
ReplyDeleteWow those comments were pretty ruthless. I don't know what they are talkin.g about. My hubby and I love love Lo ve your desk. So beautiful! Keep creating :)
ReplyDeleteGood grief! I've never read such a bunch of picky comments in one place! Tempered glass? "Real" cost? Blabbing about not having a mouse pad? Please!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is LOVELY and I'm sure I speak for many, many readers when I say, don't worry about what other people say! You're project was frugal, simple, and totally works for you. :) You took an uncluttered photo to showcase the project: a desk. You did great and I hope you continue to share your great ideas, no matter how big or small.
I agree with all previous comments. You have fantastic taste (that inspires a little bit of healthy jealousy in me!) and I really can't believe people could be so rude. Great job and keep up the great work!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a devoted reader and I think everything you do is amazing! To say the least. ;) I was not at all impressed with the readers comments but I say just keep on doing what you do best. Inspire, create and amaze. Best of luck lady!
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Those commentors! Good grief! Love your taste and it is just that YOUR taste! You making your house a home! Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeletedon't let the internet trolls get to you. They will always be there doing nothing but just that.
ReplyDeleteKnow you have talent and people appreciate your abilities :)
yay! Congratulations! So sorry about the negative comments- some people are just so rude!! Thats the negative side about doing something great -there is always naysayers (and Im sure most of them dont have a creative bone in their body)
ReplyDeleteGood job girl! I read the comments and think they are crazy! You always do awesome work.
ReplyDeleteDitto what everyone else said - your design sense is amazing, and if your desk works for you, then awesome! That's the point, no? You didn't make it for someone else, cranky people can go be picky with their {probably ugly} desks somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the awesome work :)
People can be so cruel, especially when they are hiding behind a computer. Your creations are wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteAT commenters are typically negative, maybe most of them are wannabe design snobs. They pick apart anything and everything. Don't listen to them, your desk is absolutely gorgeous and I love your styling (as always!).
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea. I want to run out and grab some glass now so I can remake this.
ReplyDeleteI think it's amazing...love your office!! Thrilled to find and follow your blog~
ReplyDeleteWow those folks over at Apt. Therapy were brutal in commenting on the desk! Ouch, don't you just (hate)LOVE the honesty of others. OK, I think it is very nice and a great alternative to the inspiration picture. People, please If you wish to use tempered glass or even industrial saw horses from Home Depot spray painted Orange! Don't shoot the messenger, adapt your project and be KIND!

Hello! I wanted to let you know that I landed on your blog by googling the keywords "AT readers are snobs". I did that because I got so fed up today with the comments on AT, that I wanted to see if other people where thinking the same thing or I was exaggerating. Thankfully I see that no, I'm not :) Your desk's makeover is lovely, and I truly respect anyone who manages to keep their desk tidy, something I'm miserable at. You have a very interesting blog here.
