I'm getting real creative with the blog post titles huh? ;) These pregnancy hormones have my brain on a hiatus. The nursery is moving right along these days. In fact, just a few more things to finish off and we will be done. Before we even knew the gender of the baby I knew I wanted to make this pillow and it was super easy.
It was inspired by this pillow that retails for $100. It's an awesome pillow but I just can't justify spending $100 on a pillow for a nursery.
source: amazon
So here we have my take on this pillow. I started with a plain white pillow cover that I just so happened to get for free at IKEA with my coupon I got in the mail. Did any of you guys get one of those? Even if you didn't have a coupon, this pillow retails for $7. Not too bad at all.
Then I just took one of these iron on transfer sheets and printed out the picture I wanted to transfer. I got mine from Target.
and used this free printable elephant I found
Then, I just followed the instructions for the transfer paper. Basically print your image onto the transfer paper, iron it on and you're done. I added some yellow pom pom trim from fabric.com
It's actually the tiniest pom pom trim I've ever seen but oh so cute.
and here we have the finished product
and our new glider that we got from Walmart.com of all places. I love that it looks more like a regular arm chair than a glider.
Sooo cute!! I prefer the DIY to the inspiration piece.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Did you have cut out the transfer before ironing it onto the pillow? Also, did you sew or glue on the trim? I'm wanting to do some Christmas pillows similar to these but wasn't sure about the 2 questions I had for you.
ReplyDeleteI like your DIY pillow much better than the pricey one, too!!! That glider is lovely as well!
ReplyDeletevery clever and very cute! thanks for sharing the post; ideas are brewing!
ReplyDeleteI love the elephant pillow! Yours is even than the original! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Walmart.com is awesome! I purchased my second boys crib and dressers there and they are stylish and modern! And perfect for the small time they are babies and cheap enough to change if all again when they are boys that want race cars... Love the pillow!!

Your pillow looks better than the $100 version !
ReplyDeleteIm curious how that iron on will hold up. I find the cheat ones dont do well. But maybe that is on shirts that get worn and washed. I switched to Tapp brand iron ons and they seem great.
ReplyDeleteI love how this turned out! Such a great idea, especially ironing on the elephant.
ReplyDeleteMyers Maison
Looks good! And I agree with Emily, your pillow looks better than the retail pillow!
ReplyDeleteWe got a glider like that for Sophie's nursery too, and it has been my favorite purchase so far. SO much comfier than the traditional glider and so much more stylish!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable pillow. Love the site you found the elephant graphic at too. Thanks for sharing. :)
