Paper Straws

Paper straws are one of my favorite things.  They are so fun and the perfect addition to any party.  I knew I wanted to find some for my daughter's first birthday party (can't believe she's already almost a year old!!) but as always didn't want to spend a fortune.  I've been keeping an eye out at local party supply stores and Marshall's (I've seen them there before) but haven't really come up with anything.  I found some online but didn't really want to pay shipping.  Well, I just happened to stop by Michaels the other day and they had some in their dollar section.  I was pleasantly surprised that a set of 18 was only $2.  I love their dollar section, you can always find something in there you need.

They had an assortment of colors but the quantities were dwindling, so if you are looking for some you might want to head on over soon.

Here's some more paper straw inspiration

Have you used paper straws?  My guess is that they may taste a little cardboardish, but the cuteness factor wins out in this case!

They look great but I have not used them yet out of the fear of them tasting (like you said) cardboardish ;)

I haven't used paper straws in years and years, but it used to be (way back in the dark ages) that all straws were paper. I don't recall there being any kind of problem with the taste through a paper straw. The only drawback was that if you kept a straw in use for an extended period of time (like we did sitting in a little diner after school when I was a teenager and nursing one coke for about 2 hours!)it would get soggy and begin to unravel. We knew then that it was time to go home!! They certainly weren't as cute as these either!! Ahhh, the good old days.........

I use paper straws all the time! They don't taste cardboardish, but they do get a little soggy at the bottom when you leave them in a drink for a long time. I bought a pack of 200 gray and white straws at Z Gallerie for $6! They also have them in packs of 20 at Target for $1.99, but I've only seen multi-colored ones. I love the black and white!

we used paper straws in mason jars for drinks at my baby shower - I think my mom bought them at Micheal's as well.
