I knew it was only a matter of time before we would need to get rid of our upholstered chairs in the breakfast nook. All it took was a flip of the hand and the chair (and myself) were covered in sweet potatoes. It was then I decided it was time for the chairs to go. I started researching wipeable (kid friendly) chairs and found several different options, but most of them didn't meet my main requirement, budget friendly. Then I stumbled across these on home decorators. I'm not typically drawn to the mid century style for my own home, but I just loved the look of these and the price was right. They are wipeable, easy to put together, and most of all kid friendly. It's a great knock off of the Bertoia Side Chair.
I love the chrome finish and the way the style contrasts with the other pieces I have in my home. I also love that I can change up the cushion or give them a quick coat of spray paint if I start craving a new look down the road. I'm sure it wouldn't surprise you that I've already had thoughts of spraying them gold. Don't worry I'm leaving them as is for now. The shiny, chrome finish is just too pretty to mess with.
I also did a little mirror switcheroo. The one that was there just didn't feel right with the grid like pattern on the chairs, it was just too much going on. So I just switched it out with the one in our master bedroom and I'm happy with how it looks now. The gold actually blends really well in our bedroom.
The table desperately needs to be refinished. I'm thinking about doing something a little more rustic with it like this table from the March issue of Lonny. I love the juxtaposition of weathered pieces with shiny, new ones. I'm waiting on the weather to cooperate before I start on that.

I think they look great!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look beautiful and I just love your home.
ReplyDeleteI've had wicker chairs for 13 years now because they are so durable. I would love to get something else one day but with 4 cats and 3 kids (well that includes the hubby) that's not possible right now.
Home Decorators has great stuff.
