I'd been searching and searching for the perfect little bench to fit under my sewing table. Speaking of sewing tables, my hubby bought me this one from IKEA for Christmas to go with my new sewing/embroidery machine. I told him I would use it a lot more if I had a place to leave it set up all the time. That has definitely been true. I would not sew things sometimes because I didn't want to drag my machine out. Thankfully we were still able to keep our glass desk I made as well to use for our computer and other office duties.
So onto the bench. I searched and found one for around $15 at a local antique mall. It wasn't anything special but the bones were good and I knew I could make it work. I had been looking for so long that I honestly was just glad to find one for the right price.
I gave the base a fresh coat of my favorite gold spraypaint, Rustoleum Gold Metallic. It's the one with the shiny lid.
Then I got to work recovering the top. I picked up this faux sheepskin rug at IKEA for $10. It was plenty big so I still have a little leftover for some other projects. I just cut it to size and stapled it in place. If you don't have an IKEA near your or they are out of stock of these rugs (as they often are), I think this fabric would work nicely too.
My office is slowly coming together. This room has been the longest room to makeover for some reason. I'll be sharing the updates as I slowly get there!
It looks like a million bucks! A totally different piece!
