Thank you all for showing the love yesterday on my bathroom vanity post! Today I have a simple project to share, like really simple. I say "wreath", in quotations, because technically it's not a wreath, but I use it in place of one. You could actually use this anywhere you wanted really.
It started with this inspiration image I found via Pinterest and it's available from this etsy seller. I have been wanting to change up my front door anyway so I took this as inspiration and ran with it.
I really like how her bow is large and a little more proportional to the letter (I believe this might be the ribbon she used), but I used a little more narrow ribbon because I liked the black.
I got all my supplies at Hobby Lobby. They had some other really great ribbon on sale this week too, jute, burlap, and even moss! It was a tough decision but I went with the black burlap chevron print. It's wired too which helps it hold it's shape really well. It just so happened to be 50% off so the whole roll was only $3 and I have lots leftover for other projects. The letter I purchased is wood and was also on sale this week for $4.
Start by making your bow. Just cut two strips and fold them to where the ends slightly overlap.
Pinch them in the middle and use wire to hold them in place. I used a black twisty tie because I couldn't find my floral wire and the black blended better with the ribbon. So you can really use whatever works for you.
Then cut a long piece. This will be the part that hangs down.
Fold it in half and attach it to the back with the same twisty tie or wire or whatever you decide to use.
Then use a staple fun to staples the ribbon to the back of the letter. Once it's stapled in place just cut off the excess ribbon.
I decided to spraypaint my letter gold because we all know I love it. Also our door is black so the black letter would have blended in way too much and provided zero contrast.
I love that it's not season specific either and will transition nicely into fall.
