chalk

If you see any random posts come through your reader I'm trying to update my home tour with updated pictures so they may come through your reader.  Hopefully I should be done soon!  If you want to check out the updated pictures, they'll be under the home tour tab at the top.

Let's talk chalk.  We all know that chalkboards and chalkboard walls have been incredibly popular these past few years and I am definitely on board, no pun intended.  So, I thought I'd do a little roundup of ways to store that messy chalk.  I used to store mine in a drawer in the kitchen, but it always ended up smashed and broken.  I originally thought about using a bathroom cup holder, but couldn't find one that fit the budget and my style.

Then I came across this clearance find at Hobby Lobby.  I'm not sure what it was supposed to be originally, but my first thought was, "that would be great for my chalk."  Actually the two pieces didn't even go together originally.  I think the total for both was around two dollars.  It works great and keeps things out of reach from the little one.

let's not talk about my sad chalkboard writing skills...

and here are a few other ideas if you're looking for a way to keep up with your chalk

Do you have any clever ways to store chalk and still keep it accessible?

  1. The yellow one can be found at a feed store or pet store where they sell small animal supplies. I have one in my pantry right now because I don't have a rabbit anymore. Mine has a screen bottom for the pellet dust to sift out.

  5. I love your new holder, what a great idea! I wonder if that iron piece held a glass votive or something...hmmm. Great ideas, i have a black vintage match box like that yellow one that might be calling for a new bright color now! Thank for including my photo!

  11. Very cute holder! I used clear display shelves for our chalkboard wall. I love them because they're big enough to hold all the kids' chalk plus an eraser. Here is a link: http://cleardisplays.com/card-display/greeting-card-holder/card-shelves-with-holes-for-hanging/
