DIY black striped vase

If you saw my entryway makeover you already know I've developed a new fondness for electrical tape.    It's inexpensive and totally reversible, great for those of us who like to change our minds.  I whipped up this little vase in no time.

I started with a plain glass vase.  I got this one at Marshall's, but have had it for years.

I started at the top and worked my way down.  I tried to just eyeball it, but my lines got all wonky so I used small pieces of tape all the way around as spacers.

I put a plum colored pillar candle in there for now, but I'm thinking a gold (even sparkly for the holidays?) candle might look great in there!

I brought out my silver pumpkin too, dreaming of fall and some cooler temperatures...

  1. Love the vase and the lantern with the gold candles. (I'm a fan of electrical tape too. Used it on my broken planters on the front porch this spring.)

  2. OK, I really love this! I've been to Home Depot twice today, but I'm going to have to pick up some electrical tape the next time! Your lantern would even be really cute with a stripe or two around the bottom.

  10. I thought I missed a step (or 16)& read it several times thinking I missed the part where you primed it then spray painted it then pulled off the tape (only to find that the paint had bled so there was a part you had to turn toward the wall). Tape it and be done with it! Genius!
