Bay windows can be a little tricky when it comes to hanging window treatments, especially if you don't have something custom created for the space. So, when I came across this idea on Emily Clark's blog I thought it was a great solution. I didn't have a bay window in mind to use it for at the time, but I filed the idea away in case I ran into that situation one day. Well, several months later my parents moved into a new home and they ended up having a huge bay window in their breakfast nook. Like most people, my mom wasn't really sure what to do with it. I instantly thought of Emily's curtains and sent the post over to her. She loved the idea and headed over to IKEA to pick up the supplies.
You basically just use these bendable curtain rod connectors to connect the rods in the corners. They are called Racka and they're $4.99 at IKEA.
She paired them with these adjustable rods for only $2.99. No hacksaw needed.
Then, to keep things light, airy, and super affordable. She picked up the VIVIAN curtains from IKEA. At $9.99/pair they are a steal. They are really lightweight and almost sheer like, but since she needed several panels it was the perfect solution.
You can use any panels you want, but it's important to make sure they have back tabs. That way you can work around the hardware in the corners.
It has really made such a difference in the feel of the whole room.
To keep things balanced and symmetrical she added an extra panel in the center of the window below. It's actually a double window so there's no wall there, but it just looked better to have the curtain panel there so everything remained evenly spaced.
Do you have any creative solutions for bay windows?

Not especially creative, but I used a 'bay window rod' from Lowes in my kitchen.

I wish I had known about these in our last house that had a bay window. I cut and pieced wood rods together to make them fit. This would have been so much easier!
What a great and reasonable solution! I like the breezy feel of the sheer panels, so pretty!
No creative solutions here, but I do wish I had a bay window. They're lovely!
This is great! It's a pain when you don't think there's a way to hang curtains. Great solution.
