I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for all your sweet comments on my last post, we are all finally on the mend!
I really enjoy DIYing things. It's mostly what this blog is about and what I do. I get a lot of joy out of being able to make something without spending a lot, but every now and then I get the itch to buy something new. Our dining room has been light-less for a few months now because I just couldn't decide what to do in there. My mom needed a larger scale light for her dining room so she's using the one that was previously in my dining room. The texture of it wasn't working for me in our dining room and it looks really nice in hers. It's nice being able to swap things around like that. So back to the dilemma, I really wanted to DIY something, but my mind was drawing a blank. I kept finding myself being drawn to beaded chandeliers. I know there are lots of DIY tutorials out there and I thought about trying my hand at one, but when I came across this beaded chandelier from world market I was smitten. The price was very reasonable (extra 10% off right now) for a chandelier of this type and according to the measurements it's a substantial size. When I weighed the cost of supplies and the time it would take me to make it, and the fact that it may end up looking like a DIY, I knew it would be better to go with the world market version. I just ordered it this past weekend so I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm so excited to see it in person (it's only available online) and get it installed. Of course I'll share some pictures when it comes in and let you know how it looks.
Here are some rooms that inspired me to go in this direction.
Love beaded chandelier. That first room is amazing. Want the dining room table too ;) Sometimes it's just better to buy than DIY.
ReplyDeletei love this look so much! can't wait to see it in there! and yes, sometimes it is better to buy!
ReplyDeleteI love the beaded chandy! Can't wait to see what you do ;) xo Kristin
ReplyDeleteWorld Market is steppin up their game! I've always been a fan but that's pretty high flutin fashion right there ;) Now I want one!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm going to have chandelier envy! I've always love that room with the turquoise one!
ReplyDeleteI love that beaded chandelier, too and actually have several pinned because I just think they are gorgeous. And I totally agree with you...sometimes DIY-ing is just not the most reasonable choice, especially if a project is going to take a lot of time. I find myself drawing a line on DIY-ing at times when I consider my time's worth. Many times it makes sense and other times, it does not and I hit that "purchase" button. ;) Cannot wait to see what you think of it in person!
ReplyDeleteI often contemplate on cost and time that too before I DIY a project (although I'm no big DIY-er like you Bethany), and most of the time, the store version is the more practical approach. Howver, it does lack the sense of accomplishment and pride that you probably get when you finish a project right? Anyhow, love your choice, can't wait to see it in the room.
ReplyDeleteWow, VERY reasonable price. I love your inspiration photos - the last one esp grabbed me - and can't wait to see the new pendant in your dining room!
ReplyDeleteLove this chandelier! I was considering it for a client. Can't wait to see what it looks like!
