I just got back from Haven and had such a great time. I wasn't really sure what to expect since this was my first year going, but I was really happy with how everything went. I learned so many things that I can apply to make this blog better. It was overall a great experience!
Now that I'm back, I'm doing a few things to change up our house to make it more appealing to buyers. (our house is still on the market) We received a comment in the feedback from an agent stating that we needed to depersonalize things. I figured that comment would pop up eventually since we have a decent amount of family pictures on our walls. I started with the gallery wall in our living room since it was an easy switch.
I've always loved botanical prints and I had a great botanical book in my stash so this update was free and easy! I actually came across the book at a thrift store for a few dollars, but if you don't happen to have one on hand you can easily find prints online. A lot of sites, like Vintage Printable, have a huge selection for free. I talked about some great, free, black botanical prints here too.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much brighter it made the room feel, which is always a nice bonus when you are trying to sell your house.
I have another wall I'm working on to share soon!
Perfect! Looks gorgeous in your living room.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was so awesome to meet you in person.
Love the pictures you posted with the gray sofa and they are
ReplyDeletelovely! I think gray would be a good choice too, especially if you
"live" in that room. I'm sure whatever you decide will look
beautiful:

The best kind of improvement...free and easy! And beautiful! Love your sweet family photos but this is a great look for showing!
ReplyDeleteBotanicals are appealing to everyone, so you made the right choice for now. Good luck Bethany and welcome back!
ReplyDeleteLooks really great Bethany :) I love botanicals in a collection like this :)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love your botanicals that you put in the living room (they really do brighten the space up) the realtor that gave the comment probably thinks all homes need granite in the kitchen too…rules made up long ago that I really don't think apply anymore, I know people are silly and say comments like I don't like the bedspread or couch like on house hunters but when the right buyer comes along they just know it's the right house!!
ReplyDeletehey, i was thinking about doing a gallery wall in our house with black and white photos as well. where did you get them printed?
ReplyDeleteMy sister had the family photos printed for me at a lab she uses. You could probably order them online or maybe through somewhere like CVS or Walgreens.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you Laurie! That has been the only negative feedback we have gotten out of all the showings, but I figured it was an switch so I'd give it a shot. Plus I always like to change things up! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! I've always loved botanical prints!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vel! It's good to be back!

ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that your house isn't flying off the market! I love the new botanicals - it's actually pretty surprising how much of a difference it made to your space!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I was really surprised how much brighter it made everything feel too. We have gotten lots of positive feedback, just waiting for "the one"!
