I hope you all had a great weekend! We've had some great weather lately and have really been enjoying getting outside a little more. And it's making it much easier to work on some painting projects, which is always a plus for me!
I've recently made a few changes in my office and finally decided on a paint color for the bamboo hutch I found on Craigslist. It was so hard picking a color for it, because I felt like any color would really work. I'm a little indecisive when it comes to my own house, but I finally settled on green! I really wanted this room to flow with the rest of the downstairs because it doesn't have any doors and has a wide opening. And I've been slowly adding more green in the living room so green just made sense. I've always loved it too. The color is called Behr Moss Landing. It's more of a mix between Emerald and Olive. At least that's the way I picture it in my head.
And thanks to Ross, Homegoods, and a birthday shopping trip, I've added some new curtains and lamps.
The lamps were a steal at Ross for $16.99! I'm always drawn to coral, and of course lucite, so it was a no brainer. We've also been looking for a way to add more light to the office in the evenings when we don't want to turn the overhead light on and these do the trick.
I also switched out the curtain panels to something a little more fun. Everything else in this room is solid so I thought it needed a little more interest and pattern. I was anti tan/taupe for a while after having so much of it in our last home, but I felt like these added a little warmth without being too much. And it doesn't hurt that they were $16.99/pair at Homegoods and they're 95" long! I've noticed they've been carrying more curtains in longer lengths which is awesome. I always say to go with the longest curtains possible in your space, it makes a world of difference. They used to be harder to find, or more expensive, so I was glad to see several options for great prices there.
And lastly, I moved our old IKEA sisal rug in there. The cowhide was fun, but I just wanted something different. I need to get a rug pad to help with the dirt situation that gets all over the floor, but for now I just pull it up and vacuum under it once a week or so. I guess I should probably do that anyway. :)
I'm hoping I can get the hutch done this week, fingers crossed!
Oh Bethany! this looks perfectly amazing!

ReplyDeletelove the green....perfect! what finish will you use? eggshell? matte? i'm always confused about that when i redo a piece. do you have a go-to finish?
ReplyDeleteThat color will be perfect! What a great space...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gabbi! It has been really nice having a space of my own to work in!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara! I typically go with semi gloss if I'm doing a lighter color so that I don't have to do a polyurethane topcoat. If I'm doing something dark, like black, I'll go with satin so it doesn't show the brush strokes as badly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Summer! Can't wait to get to it all finished!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shannon! I know, I couldn't believe the price!
