*Rugs USA provided me with a rug to review. All opinions are 100% mine.
Our playroom is the first room you see when you walk in our front door. I have a long term general plan for the space, but it involves a stencil and I think I'm just procrastinating. For now though, I need to have it look somewhat pulled together. So, I've done a "phase 1" makeover using things I already had to keep it looking nice until I can get to the end result that I'm really looking for.
Every room needs a great rug. This room has wood floors, so a rug was especially important. The Velvet Trellis Light Grey Rug in a 7'7 x 10 ended up being a great fit. I like to use rugs with a neutral geometric pattern when I can, because it creates interest without committing you to a color. And geometrics are great because they go with pretty much any other pattern.
It is a thinner rug, so I think it would work best on hard surface floors and with a rug pad. But then again I think rug pads are a good idea all the time.
You may have noticed I switched out the light too. I have made a few birdcage lights before (here and here) and I just couldn't resist making one for this room. They are so easy to make (you can find the DIY here), they are inexpensive, and little ones love them.
I also felt like the space above the TV looked really empty before and the large scale of this light really helps fill up the space visually.
I added a little more color with some floral fabric I found at Hobby Lobby. I just recovered some existing pillows to freshen them up a bit.
After I posted about the gallery wall prints I found at Hobby Lobby, a few of you mentioned you found them on Amazon. I was so glad to hear that since I know a lot of people don't have a Hobby Lobby close by.
And lastly, our last home is being featured over at Southern Hospitality today! I feel so honored and would love for you to head over and check it out! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter!

ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Bethany! I could never have the playroom first thing inside the door - I am SO bad about keeping on top of tidying it!! Or maybe that would motivate me to keep it clean :)
ReplyDeletePerfect!!!!! In love with your birdcage light! I need one for my nursery! Have a wonderful Easter with your family Bethany!
ReplyDeleteI too have a playroom that is the first thing you see when you walk in my home. I love how your playroom doesn't scream "kid space" but is still colorful and fun for your littles! The birdcage love light makes the space! Robin @ www.designbyrobinsnest.blogspot.com
