Today I'm sharing our kids' bathroom makeover. If you missed yesterday's post with the design plan and before pictures you can see it here. Just to refresh your memory, here's where we started.
I started by painting the walls gray. Unfortunately it was a can of oops paint so I'm not sure of the color. Then I started stenciling the flamingos. I originally planned on doing white bodies with black legs just like the inspiration image, but after one small section I realized it was going to be way too busy and it was going to take me twice as long so I scratched that idea and went with all white. (You can see my stenciling tips here) On a side note, one thing I learned this time is to not use paint plus primer to stencil. I thought it would cover better and it did, but it also adhered to the stencil more and made it much harder to periodically clean the buildup off.
After the walls were done, I painted the cabinets. I lightly sanded the surface, applied two coats of primer, and then two coats of paint. The paint color I chose is Behr Spring Stream. We also switched out the hardware, replaced the towel bar with hooks, and added new mirrors.
My husband picked out this trash can at Homegoods and was pretty proud of himself. And I must say I'm pretty proud of him too, after all this time I think I'm rubbing off on him.
I felt like the stenciling took me forever, but mostly it was a fairly easy and inexpensive makeover. I'm always amazed at the power of a little paint!
